On Valentine’s weekend, the girls had their first big sleepover at Nana and Papa’s. Although they have spent the night a time or two in the past, it has been several months and the reality is that this was the first time that both of them knew in advance and were able to be jointly excited about the prospect

Scarlett’s post-op follow up appointment was Monday morning, and I was thrilled to get the “All Clear” notice from the doctor. Her overall exuberance throughout the weekend was evidence enough that she is feeling better and no longer suffering the constant irritation from the ear infections. We will continue to use ear plugs during bath time or when we go swimming this summer, but she has been an exceptional sport about letting me put them in her ears and leaving them alone. Sunday morning is usually such a busy one with all the machinations required to get all four of us fed, dressed up and out the door in time for Sunday School. However, the past few weeks have been a slower pace as we’ve found ourselves sick in one form or another. This week, Scarlett and I were feeling almost 100%, but Victoria is still in the throes of this darn RSV virus. Jim was feeling some of the initial symptoms of the virus himself and that, combined with Scarlett and I still coughing quite a bit meant the official call was made that we would have to stay home.
While we have missed church greatly, I have to say that a small part of me has enjoyed these slow-paced Sundays! Today when Scarlett woke up she told me she wanted pancakes for breakfast, so downstairs we went to get them started. She was waiting in her seat in anticipation before I could as much as crack an egg.
