On Tuesday we made the trek up to Dacula (just outside of Lawrenceville, GA, about an hour away) so that Grammie could pick up her car from the repair shop up there. While we were at it, we thought it would be fun to stop in and visit Aunt Kari at the dentist office she and her husband own. Read the rest of this entry »

In celebration of Nana turning the big “Forty-Ten”
we were invited to her house for a day of playing and visiting. Although the girls are getting used to the hour-long drive, its sometimes necessary to break it up with a stop at the SuperTarget in Hiram as we did that day. Daddy decided he would faint away if he didn’t have a hotdog from the concession stand, and naturally the girls decided they needed to split one as well. Read the rest of this entry »

Incorporating time on the deck during warm summer mornings was something that was started with Scarlett last year… this year we have the addition of sand, water, and Victoria too
It’s become a nice routine whenever the weather is cooperating to head outside for some playtime when we aren’t in a rush to head out. Read the rest of this entry »

On Thursday I spent quite a bit of time purging our toys from all of their various locales around the house – Scarlett’s room, Victoria’s closet (and no, I don’t know how they got there either), the living room, the kitchen, the playroom. It was definitely needed and I ended up getting rid of a lot of junky items that add up over the course of 6 months, and also pulled aside about half of the remaining toys and hid them in our bedroom. Now, the idea is that in a few months I can purge again and bring these “new” old toys back out (and put some of the current ones away) and they’ll actually get some play time. We’ll see how all of that goes

Lazy Saturday mornings can be so great from time to time, and with Victoria’s morning nap lately falling right around 10:00 a.m., we’ve had to decide to either hit the ground running or take it easy until she wakes up – on this Saturday, we chose the following path: Read the rest of this entry »

Well, thankfully Jim has been able to finally get Picassa working again, or at least cooperating enough that I can access and upload the photos!! There is a lot of catching up to do from the last week, so I’m going to start with the oldest days/pictures first and move forward from there in the hopes of catching up completely over the next few days.
Friday was the first full post-op day after Scarlett’s ear tube procedure, so we took it easy and mostly lounged around in the morning. While Victoria napped, Scarlett painted and played, and by the time V woke up from her morning nap, Scarlett had already gone down for hers. Scarlett is very territorial about her finished artwork and if she (and I) forget to hang one up and it is left on the table, she is quick to snatch it out of Sissy’s hands and tell her, “NO SISSY!” Read the rest of this entry »

On Friday, Victoria decided she was awake for the day at 6:00 a.m. and sadly, nothing would persuade her otherwise. Jim got up to play with her for a bit before it was time for him to get ready to leave, and then I took over to enjoy some quiet time with her before Scarlett woke up. Her hair seems to be getting thicker and fuller every day… the problem is, it’s as though it’s only growing on the top! When she wakes up in the morning it is particularly wild.

Friday was one of those great days where if someone asks, “What did you do today?” you could answer, “Not much of anything, but it was pretty fun!” Victoria had a projectile vomiting spell right after her morning bottle, and so I decided to keep the day low-key just to be safe. While she took a long nap during the morning (probably to rest up for the epic throw-ups that were to come), Scarlett and I just lounged around for a change – she had her usual 3-course breakfast (some of Grammie’s cereal, followed by an entire bowl of oatmeal, then later a bit of fruit) and we spent a solid 30 minutes watching video clips on YouTube. At first her scope was really limited and she just wanted to watch the videos of her or Sissy over and over. Then she became obsessed with this one particular video of her friend Olivia’s 2nd birthday party that we missed due to our nasty virus… she would watch it 5x a day at least! “See Livvy, see Livvy!” became her chant if I even glanced at the computer. Now however, she has realized that she can think of almost anything out there (cat, dog, horse, etc.) and I can find a cute or funny clip of it on YouTube. Her two favorites right now are the sneezing baby panda and one she’s termed “mean cat” and she will watch them over and over.

Wednesday morning marked the beginning of a three day out-of-town trip for Jim, so I knew I wanted to stay busy with the girls to keep Scarlett’s mind off of Daddy’s absence. First thing that morning, we hustled around and met up at the Coffee Park with our friends Erica and Elizabeth. The Coffee Park (CP) is such a neat venue, combining a coffee shop/cafe/indoor playland area all in one, and the best part (in MY opinion!) is that you can put your kids, ages “Crawlers” and up, into the playland area and they are supervised while you sit and relax with your coffee. In the past, Scarlett hasn’t done super well in the playland area – it takes a long time for her to adjust and feel comfortable, but then if one other child cries, she just falls apart. However, this was the first time I was able to put both Victoria and her in together, and along with baby Elizabeth, the trio made it a solid hour! They had a blast (right until the end when the waterworks started full scale), I was able to relax and chat with a friend, and at the end of it all they were worn out and ready for a nap.
